Controversial Loudoun County Public School Superintendent Eric Williams is stepping down to become superintendent at Houston’s Clear Creek Independent School District.
The school board announced Williams was the sole finalist for superintendent position at the 42,000-strong Clear Creek Independent School District in Houston, Texas.
‘It is therefore likely that he will resign as Superintendent of Loudoun County Public Schools in the near future. We wish him the best of luck as a finalist and thank him for his more than six years of service to LCPS,” the school board announced.
LCPS noted they would name an interim superintendent while launching a nationwide search for a permanent replacement.
Williams’ term has been controversial, particularly in recent years as he sought to expand equity training and critical race theory in the school system.
West Nova News revealed a little over a month ago that Williams was behind a move to punish educators who may seek to openly criticize critical race theory.
Williams later dropped that cause after the teacher’s union questioned his ability to tamper first amendment rights.
The school district was noted to have spent $422,000 on the controversial curriculum in just a two-year period.
One of the goals set up under that framework was to hire fewer white teachers and to mandate that "100% of new teachers will engage in on-boarding training sessions on Equity and Culturally Responsive Instruction."
Williams’ last reported salary was just over $306,000 and included over $47,000 in annual incentive as well as a longevity bonus which he will likely forfeit.
