Three male students from Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, Virginia, are contesting allegations of sexual harassment after questioning the presence of a female classmate in the boys’ locker room. The incident has led to a formal investigation by Loudoun County Public Schools. The female student, who identifies as transgender, recorded the boys expressing their confusion and discomfort, subsequently filing a Title IX complaint.
Josh Hetzler, an attorney from Founding Freedoms Law Center representing the male students, argues that the investigation is unwarranted. “They only asked questions that any boy in that situation would have asked other 15-year-old boys,” Hetzler said to Restoration News. He noted that the comments were not directed at the female student but were part of a conversation among themselves.
The recording was made without the boys’ knowledge or consent, which Hetzler claims violates school policy prohibiting photography and recordings in private areas like locker rooms. A complaint regarding this breach has been filed by at least one parent.
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin expressed concern over the situation and announced an investigation into Loudoun County’s handling of the incident. “It’s deeply concerning to read reports of yet another incident in Loudoun County schools where members of the opposite sex are violating the privacy of students in locker rooms,” Youngkin said on May 6. He has tasked Attorney General Jason Miyares with investigating to ensure student privacy and safety.
Youngkin’s administration had established guidelines in 2023 mandating that students use facilities corresponding with their biological sex. Hetzler criticized Loudoun County for violating these guidelines and President Donald Trump’s executive order against gender ideology extremism. “Loudoun County is certainly in defiance of the law,” he said, emphasizing the need to protect student privacy.
