Washington, DC – Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) issued the following statement on the Ghaisar family’s settlement with the Department of Justice in the civil lawsuit claiming wrongful death of their son, Bijan Ghaisar, at the hands of the U.S. Park Police in 2017:
“The Ghaisar family has faced years of unjust obstacles and stonewalling in their pursuit of answers in this case. This settlement validates the Ghaisar’s relentless pursuit of justice in the wrongful killing of their son, Bijan.
“I’ve been awed by their courage and determination in seeking justice for Bijan and have been proud to stand alongside them in this fight. I hope that this settlement finally brings some peace for Kelly, James, Negeen, and their entire family.”
