Inova Sponsors Workforce Development Program
Inova Health System’s Dream B!G Program, in partnership with the Workforce Innovation Skills Hub and Melwood, sponsored a four-week workforce development program for people interested in a healthcare career, including training for patient registration roles and additional direct-hire opportunities resulting in four participants offered positions.
“I heard about the program and came to the first meeting to learn more, and so glad I did,” commented Debora. “We worked on resumes, interviewing and people skills as Inova talked to us about a career in healthcare. For me, they have openings at Fairfax Hospital, just four blocks from where I’m moving, flexible hours which means a lot as I have children and the pay is more than I’m making now. I am so excited!”
As the region’s leading nonprofit healthcare provider, Inova brings world-class healthcare, education and wellness programming to Northern Virginia residents. Individuals interested in joining the Inova team could look forward to flexible hours with multiple shift availability to ensure work/life balance and a starting pay at $18 an hour. According to Deron Campbell, Inova’s Director of Community Health Programs, Population and Community Health Services, Inova looks forward to welcoming enthusiastic new team members that highlights the diversity of the communities we serve.
“The health of our community is positively influenced and sustained by the education and employment of inspired youth and adults who see healthcare not just as a job, but a career,” commented Campbell. “The Dream B!G workforce development initiative, in partnership with WISH and Melwood, is designed to increase the racial and ethnic diversity of our healthcare workforce by creating intentional pathways to various careers in healthcare – re-envisioning how Inova, an anchor institution, can meaningfully impact and support our communities and their health.”
