SEVEN LCPS HIGH SCHOOLS RANK AMONG TOP 25 ACCORDING TO NICHE

SEVEN LCPS HIGH SCHOOLS RANK AMONG TOP 25 ACCORDING TO NICHE

According to Niche, a web-based ranking and review service, seven Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) high schools rank among the top 25 high schools in Virginia. The seven schools are:

  • Briar Woods High School (#8)
  • Riverside HS (#9)
  • Rock Ridge High School (#14)
  • Freedom High School (#18)
  • Broad Run High School (#20)
  • Stone Bridge High School (#21)
  • Independence High School (#23)
Niche states that its rankings differ from similar lists in that it provides input from students, alumni, and parents rather than relying almost solely on test scores and academic performance. Niche reviews also include evaluations of teachers, resources, and facilities based on quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education.

Niche provides detailed information on each school, assigning grades for everything from academics to diversity. The schools’ profiles also include information on the surrounding neighborhoods, clubs and activities, and testimonials from former students. The profiles of each school can be seen here.

Some highlights from the LCPS schools include:

  • Briar Woods received A+ scores in academics and college prep.
  • Riverside is rated the 14th best high school for college prep in Virginia.
  • Rock Ridge is identified as being the 24th best high school for STEM in Virginia.
  • A review of Freedom said “the faculty are enthusiastic about what they do…I found a lot of club options and competitive classes.”
  • 93% of students and parents said Broad Run has plenty of clubs and organizations for students to get involved.
  • Stone Bridge was ranked the 4th best high school in Virginia for athletes.
  • A student review of Independence said, “At Independence High School, all students are excited to go to school every day. The climate is extremely positive and the experience everyone has is always amazing!”
“This recognition speaks volumes about all of the hard work that LCPS students, staff and parents make on this continuous journey of excellence and improvement,” stated Dr. Scott Ziegler, LCPS Superintendent.
