IFDA Joins Lawmakers for Member Facility Tour and Discussion

Mala Parker, IFDA’s Vice President of Government Affairs, joined Kohl Wholesale leadership as they welcomed U.S. Representatives and Ranking Members on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rodney Davis and Sam Graves to their facilities in Quincy, IL, on Tuesday, to explore supply chain and workforce issues facing the foodservice distribution industry.

Among the topics discussed were ways to expand the nation’s transportation labor supply and short- and long-term fixes to supply chain shortages that impact distributors’ businesses.

“It’s working with companies like Kohl, who do a lot of in-house training, to figure out how we can get more younger drivers in the seats to be able to participate in a long-term investment in being a driver for facilities like Kohl,” Davis said, reported WGEM.

Parker described the visit as “productive,” stressing the importance of having members of Congress visit distribution centers to see the industry firsthand.

“We’re grateful to Ranking Members Davis and Graves for taking the time to see how this essential American industry strengthens local communities and contributes to our country’s economic growth,” said Parker. “IFDA is proud to work with lawmakers and our member companies to facilitate these valuable visits, which showcase foodservice distributors’ vital position in our national supply chain.”
