Fauquier County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 7
Kona Ice of Culpeper, Locust Grove, and Warrenton set a goal to raise $5,000 for local schools, youth sports, and nonprofit organizations for the year. Since April, the local, small woman-owned franchise has raised and written donation checks for more than $7,000 to community organizations and is quickly gearing up for fall youth sports leagues and school fundraising events.
“We love writing these checks and we can't thank the community enough for the support.
Thank you so much to all the youth sports, schools, churches, and nonprofits for choosing us to serve you at your FUNdraising events. We so appreciate each and every one of you,” says Kona Ice co-owner Maria Lischak.
A special outreach effort is underway to reach all the schools in Culpeper, Locust Grove, and Warrenton areas to help schools raise money through monthly “Kona Days”, which is a huge part of the millions of dollars Kona Ice franchisees give back to communities every year.
“Kona Ice is not your normal shaved ice. We're known for our delicious and nutritious flavors, fun Kona Entertainment Vehicle (KEV) with cool lights and tropical tunes, and most of all our fundraising and bringing smiles to kids’ faces,” says Kona Ice co-owner Tania Terleckyj.
