County of Loudoun issued the following announcement on June 08.
Loudoun County is expecting a significant increase in motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic in and around the Loudoun County Government Center, 1 Harrison Street SE in Leesburg, on the mornings of Thursday, June 10 and Thursday, June 24, 2021.
The Office of the Treasurer will be hosting a tax payment event that will result in several hundred people arriving at the Government Center between 8:00 and 9:30 a.m. The number of expected visitors far exceeds the number of available visitor parking spaces at the Government Center, potentially causing delays in accessing the Government Center parking garage and slowing traffic on Loudoun Street in the Town of Leesburg. Drivers in the area on the mornings of June 10 and 24 should use extra caution and follow all police direction.
The Government Center will remain open for routine services; however, anyone with business at the Government Center that can be delayed until after 11:00 a.m. on the mornings of June 10 and 24, or to another day, is encouraged to plan accordingly to avoid the anticipated traffic.
For residents who are visiting the Government Center on the mornings of June 10 and 24, free parking options will include:
- The Government Center parking garage, which has limited visitor parking capacity.
- Town of Leesburg’s Church Street lot, located next to the Government Center garage, which will be free between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on June 10 and 24.
- The Pennington Parking Garage, 210 Church Street NE. The county will operate a free shuttle between the Pennington Garage and the Government Center between 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. on June 10 and 24.
In addition to posted signage, Loudoun County employees will be present and highly visible to direct taxpayers and the general public in and out of the Government Center.
