Loudoun County Hosts Business Hazardous Waste Collection Event May 6

Lcwaste

Loudoun County issued the following announcement on Apr. 16.

Loudoun County will host a hazardous waste collection event for  businesses and organizations Thursday, May 6, 2021. Pre-registration is  required to participate, and must be received no later than Friday,  April 30, 2021. The county holds two collection events per year where  eligible hazardous waste generators may deliver toxic, reactive,  ignitable and/or corrosive materials for proper disposal. The fall 2021  event will be scheduled for October.

The Loudoun County Business  Hazardous Waste Program is offered for businesses and organizations  located in Loudoun County that are considered “Very Small Quantity  Generators,” or VSQGs, or that do not exceed the following thresholds:

  • Generate less than 220 pounds of hazardous wastes per calendar month.
  • Generate less than 2.2 pounds of acutely hazardous wastes per calendar month.
  • Accumulate 2,220 pounds or less (roughly five 55-gallon drums) of hazardous wastes at any time.
Hazardous  waste disposal through this program typically results in reduced costs  for businesses as compared to establishing collection service directly  with a hazardous waste management company. Loudoun County covers the  fees for contractor setup, material handling and hauling. Participants  will only be required to deliver their materials to the event and pay  the disposal fee.

Visit loudoun.gov/bhwp for registration forms and event information, or call 703-771-5514.
