Fauquier County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on March 26.
“Women’s history month is about recognizing and celebrating the role women have played in America’s history. In observation of this, the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office is highlighting the women who have contributed and continue to contribute to our community.
Meet Master Deputy Sheriff Vanessa Breedlove from our Patrol Division. MDS Breedlove has served with the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office for 8 years. When asked why she chose a career in law enforcement she said “My family instilled in me the importance of serving others and leading a life you can be proud of so I chose a profession where I can serve my community and hopefully make a positive impact. I love that every shift is different. Every day we come in I get the chance to help someone and make our community we live in a safer place.”
And make an impact she has. In 2020, MDS Breedlove led the division in arrests! She has been the recipient of the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Award for getting the highest number of drunk drivers off of our streets and highways. She is also the very first woman in the Sheriff’s Office to utilize the PIT maneuver to disable a fleeing felon’s vehicle during a high-speed pursuit. A graduate of more than a dozen advanced-level law enforcement schools, MDS Breedlove currently ensures that our up-and-coming, newly-hired deputies are ready to meet the needs of our community by serving as a Field Training Officer, and fills the role of a Crisis Negotiator when necessary.”
