U.S. Representative Suhas Subramanyam has announced that over $3 million in federal funding will go to support local projects in Fauquier and Rappahannock Counties. The funding, secured through the congressional appropriations process, will be directed to 15 local initiatives.
“At a time when veterans are struggling and families are concerned about housing and public safety, this funding will be critical to our community,” said Rep. Subramanyam. “Thank you to Hero’s Bridge, Reset180 and Rappahannock County for their partnership and advocacy of these initiatives, and I will continue to ensure that there is federal support for critical projects like these in our community.”
Three projects receiving U.S. Department of Agriculture funding include:
– Hero’s Bridge: $1 million for building affordable housing and a community center in Warrenton aimed at supporting aging veterans in rural Virginia.
– Reset180: $1 million for constructing a two-phase shelter and transitional housing program for survivors of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.
– Rappahannock County: $1.015 million toward building a new courthouse to replace the county’s current single courtroom facility, which no longer meets space or security requirements.
Molly Brooks, CEO and Founder of Hero’s Bridge, commented on the impact of the grant: “We are grateful to Congressman Subramanyam for securing this vital funding. Because of his leadership, the Village project takes a major step forward. The Village will change the lives of aging Veterans in our community, and this support brings us significantly closer to breaking ground.”
Esther Daniel, Executive Director of Reset180, also expressed appreciation: “Tonight, we celebrate a breakthrough for survivors of human trafficking in our community. Thanks to the advocacy of Congresswoman Wexton and the continued leadership of Congressman Subramanyam, we have secured vital federal support for something our region has never had: a dedicated shelter for survivors of human trafficking. This investment not only provides essential resources for survivor services but also strengthens the capacity of law enforcement to hold perpetrators accountable and enhance community safety. This funding is more than a grant, it is a lifeline. A safe place. A new beginning. We are deeply grateful to Virginia’s 10th District for standing with survivors and helping make this vision a reality.”
Keir Whitson, Vice Chair of the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors added: “I am grateful to the Congressman and his team for their good work in securing this funding, which will help reduce the tax pressure placed on our citizens by this costly, but critical, courthouse project. We appreciate and value the Congressman’s ongoing commitment to his constituents in Rappahannock County, Virginia.”
