The Maryland Terrapins were edged out by the USC Trojans 11-10 in NCAA Division I baseball on Friday, March 27, at 6 p.m. Former Independence High School standout David Mendez, now with Maryland, contributed to the close matchup.

The contest, hosted at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium, marked the first meeting this season between the Terrapins and Trojans.

Mendez went 1-for-4 at the plate, scoring two runs and driving in one.

The Terrapins are set to face the Trojans again at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium on Saturday, March 28.
