The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors will hold a Transit Summit on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Loudoun County Government Center in Leesburg. The summit aims to give board members an opportunity to discuss the future direction of transit services in the county.

At the summit, representatives from the Department of General Services are scheduled to present updates and recommendations regarding several aspects of Loudoun County Transit. Topics include commuter bus service performance metrics, revenue and budget information, possible new direct routes to and from the Leesburg Park and Ride lot, relocating commuter bus operations from Dulles Transit Center to Loudoun Gateway, reduced fare options for eligible riders with disabilities, and a status update on pilot commuter routes from Dale City and Frederick, Maryland into Loudoun County.

For local fixed-route service, presentations will cover budget details, performance data, distribution efforts for Senior SmarTrip/Metro Lift cards within the county, marketing strategies, procedures for requesting new bus stops, and plans for transitioning the fleet to low or no-emission vehicles.

On-demand services will also be discussed. This includes information about paratransit and microtransit coverage areas in Loudoun County as well as policy updates, current ridership figures, projected budgets for fiscal years 2026 and 2027, and mobility programs available to residents.

The concept of insourcing currently contracted transit operations and maintenance services is also on the agenda.

Loudoun County Transit operates local bus lines along with on-demand and paratransit services. It also provides commuter bus connections from park-and-ride lots in Loudoun to destinations such as Rosslyn, Crystal City, the Pentagon, and Washington D.C.

Advisory boards appointed by the Board of Supervisors are expected to offer comments during the summit. These include representatives from the Transit Advisory Board; Commission on Aging; Loudoun Health Commission; and Disability Services Board.

Members of the public can attend in person or watch live broadcasts on Comcast Government Channel 1075 or Verizon FiOS Channel 40. A livestream is also available at loudoun.gov/meetings. The agenda packet will be posted before the meeting at loudoun.gov/bosdocuments. More information about transit services can be found at loudoun.gov/transit.
