Loudoun County has scheduled a public meeting for November 19, 2025, to discuss planned improvements to Lake Drive. The project will focus on reconstructing the segment of Lake Drive from Thomas Avenue to the Fairfax County boundary. According to county officials, the meeting will include an assessment of the dam’s current condition, a review of an interim stabilization plan for both the dam and spillway, and discussion about removing the dam’s functionality. Loudoun County is working with Fairfax County on this initiative.

The proposed reconstruction aims to bring the roadway up to standards required by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for acceptance into its secondary system of state highways. If accepted, VDOT would assume responsibility for future maintenance.

The public input session is set for Wednesday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m., in the cafeteria at Park View High School, located at 400 W. Laurel Ave in Sterling. Residents can share their views on alignment options during the meeting or through an online comment form available at loudoun.gov/LakeDriveImprovements after November 19. Comments must be submitted by December 5, 2025. Those without internet access may call 703-737-8624 to provide feedback.

The county encourages anyone needing disability accommodations or language assistance to call 703-737-8035 or send an email, requesting three business days’ notice.

Additional information about the project and sign-up options for updates are available at loudoun.gov/LakeDriveImprovements.

Park View High School is part of Loudoun County Public Schools District, which enrolled over 82,000 students during the 2023-24 school year according to state data. White students made up just over 40% of total enrollment that year, while Asian students accounted for about a quarter of all students. Total district enrollment saw a slight decrease from the previous year with a drop of just under one percent.
