Loudoun County has opened its annual Human Services Nonprofit Grant Application for the Fiscal Year 2027, inviting local nonprofit organizations to apply for funding through the county’s website at loudoun.gov/NonprofitGrants.
Eligible applicants are 501(c)3 nonprofits that provide services to Loudoun County residents in specific areas of need approved by the Board of Supervisors. The areas include crisis intervention and diversion, improved quality of human services, long-term support, and prevention and self-sufficiency.
The Board of Supervisors has introduced several changes to the grant process for FY 2027. The maximum award amount for standard nonprofit grants has been raised from $113,000 to $135,000. Organizations will be required to select only one primary area of need in their application but can also choose optional categories such as education access, food security, health care access, housing assistance, mental health supports, and workforce development.
Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026. The total funding available will be determined as part of the county’s FY 2027 budget adoption process. For reference, in FY 2026 the county allocated $2.9 million for human services nonprofit grants.
There are two options available for organizations seeking funding: a standard application process for requests between $5,001 and $135,000 (with proportional awards), and a mini-grant process with a simplified application for grants up to $5,000 (awarded in full). The mini-grant program targets innovative small-scale projects or smaller organizations that may not have resources to prepare larger applications.
A pre-application information webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 2:00–3:30 p.m., offering instructions on how to apply and details about changes in this year’s process. Details on accessing the webinar are posted at loudoun.gov/NonprofitGrants; it will also be recorded and made available online.
Anyone needing accommodations due to disability or language assistance is encouraged to contact the county via email.
