Loudoun County Office of Housing issued the following announcement on Apr. 8.

As the Loudoun County Office of Housing finalizes the county’s Unmet  Housing Needs Strategic Plan (UHNSP), members of the public are invited  to review the draft plan and share their feedback.

The strategic  plan is designed to help the county and its partners improve housing  access, quality and affordability for all families. It identifies  strategies and actions to address unmet housing needs in a systematic  and comprehensive way with integrated programs. The plan will also aim  to create housing targets over the short term and the long term (the  next five years).

Review the Draft Strategic Plan

The  draft plan was presented to the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors at  its April 6, 2021, business meeting. The Board’s feedback and input from  the public will be included in the final draft plan, which is scheduled  to be presented to the Board at its May 12, 2021, public hearing.

Background

The UNHSP has five objectives with specific strategies and key actions that will help the county address housing needs:

  • Establish a coordinated, collaborative and integrated housing network.
  • Secure land resources needed to address unmet housing needs.
  • Obtain viable funding sources.
  • Provide incentives, establish priorities and increase access to affordable housing.
  • Implement policy changes to support affordable housing production and preservation.

These  five objectives and their associated key actions provide a  comprehensive approach, based on research, best practice, and Loudoun  County’s specific housing needs and housing market, to start addressing  the affordability gaps that exist in the county.
