Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) has announced that ten students from the Academies of Loudoun participated in an international research collaboration with Hwa Chong Institution in Singapore. This initiative provided the students with experience in global scientific research and cultural exchange.
According to LCPS, from July 31 to August 10, the Academies of Loudoun (ACL) students took part in the final event of the 2024–2025 Singapore Research Collaboration. This yearlong program aims to promote innovation, teamwork, and cross-cultural understanding. Students worked in teams of four—comprising two ACL students and two from Hwa Chong Institution—to develop and execute original research projects under the guidance of educators from both schools.
Hwa Chong Institution is recognized as a leading school in Singapore known for its academic excellence and focus on global leadership development. It partnered with ACL to support research, collaboration, and innovation aligned with LCPS’s Instructional Framework. Students engaged in real-world problem-solving activities, received feedback, refined their work, and built international connections. Additionally, LCPS educators attended the Global AI Nexus of Schools conference where they shared insights on generative AI in education and received recognition for their contributions.
The Academies of Loudoun provide STEM-focused education emphasizing exploration, research, collaboration, and innovation across science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines. The school serves a diverse student population from across Loudoun County and offers integrated coursework designed to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, design, and collaborative skills. According to the Academies of Loudoun, students adhere to principles of integrity and responsibility in their academic and personal endeavors. As a member of the National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools, it shares information, programs, and best practices with other specialized STEM institutions.
