Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) announced that students and staff celebrated the second annual One LCPS Celebration Day on October 16, highlighting unity and school community engagement.
According to LCPS Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence, the One LCPS Celebration Day was created last year to honor schools, staff, and students for their contributions to the division. On this day, students and staff were encouraged to wear their school’s spirit wear or colors. Spence, along with division leadership and senior staff, visited schools to take photos, offer thanks, and congratulate participants. Schools were provided with photo props such as selfie boards, foam fingers, and stickers. Students and staff also participated in a photo contest, with winners scheduled to be announced during the first full week of November.
“We’re observing One LCPS Celebration Day to recognize the incredible educators, leaders, families and students who make living and working in Loudoun County so amazing,” said Spence. “We are one of the nation’s leading school divisions, and it’s important that we spend some time reflecting on and sharing in the spirit of this work we do together.”
Dr. Spence is the superintendent of Loudoun County Public Schools, overseeing 100 schools and centers serving nearly 83,000 students. He has previously served as superintendent in Virginia Beach and North Carolina and held roles as a central office administrator and school principal. Spence began his career in 1994 as a French and photojournalism teacher.
Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS), headquartered in Ashburn, Virginia, provides comprehensive information on its operations through various resources including calendars, school hours, parent resources, and administrative contacts. The district maintains detailed enrollment and achievement data through District and School Profiles which include demographics, graduation rates, Standards of Learning (SOL) pass rates, standardized test scores, and federal accountability metrics. Virginia’s School Quality Profiles (SQPs) complement these reports by offering annual snapshots and multi-year trends on student achievement, college and career readiness, school safety, and teacher quality. LCPS is led by Superintendent Aaron Spence and governed by an elected School Board responsible for policy-making and strategic planning.
