Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) announced that the October 14, 2025, School Board meeting addressed several key topics, including the first-quarter financial report, fiscal year 2027 budget planning, policy updates, the Division-Wide Literacy Plan, and highlights from both the superintendent and students.

According to LCPS, the school board meeting saw full member attendance and included an update from the Loudoun Education Alliance of Families (LEAF) Advisory Committee. The Office of the Ombuds presented its annual report summarizing constituent contacts from July 2024 to June 2025 and identified focus areas for 2025-2026. Staff provided a financial report for June through September 2025 and an update on FY27 budget development while seeking guidance on priorities. The Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem were performed by the Park View High School Marching Band, and student representative David Olorunda shared comments.

The superintendent’s report highlighted River Bend Middle School’s first Family Feedback Circle and LCPS’s ranking as the fourth-best school division in Virginia. The board received public comments, approved awarding stream mitigation credits for High School #14, and consolidated Policy 2320 into Policy 2310. Board members reviewed draft Policy 5440 related to the Division-Wide Literacy Plan, discussed committee updates, and held a closed session. No new business was presented at this meeting.

The Loudoun County School Board functions as the official policy-making body for LCPS under Virginia law and regulations of the Virginia Board of Education. It comprises members elected from eight districts plus one at-large seat with staggered terms to ensure continuity. The current members assumed office in January 2024. The Board oversees policies, budgets, and educational initiatives while allowing citizen participation and public comment on school-related matters.
