Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) announced that on November 19, students participated in Job for a Day 2025, a countywide event designed to provide them with the opportunity to explore careers by connecting with professionals across Loudoun workplaces.
According to LCPS, the Job for a Day initiative, sponsored by the School-Business Partnership Executive Council and organized by the Division of Career, Technical, and Adult Education, enabled approximately 600 students to visit businesses throughout the county. More than 70 organizations participated in this initiative, including Amazon, AAA, Purcellville Police Department, Inova, Apple Federal Credit Union, Town of Leesburg, HHMI Janelia Research Campus, and QTS Data Centers. These organizations provided students with direct exposure to professional environments.
The program aims to give students an opportunity to explore career pathways by shadowing professionals and observing daily operations. Through these hands-on experiences, students gain insight into the skills needed for success and begin planning their futures with a clearer understanding of potential careers.
Job for a Day also emphasizes the commitment of local businesses to support education and community partnerships. By hosting students, professionals offered opportunities for them to ask questions and connect classroom learning to real-world applications. This experience allowed students to witness collaboration and problem-solving across fields such as health care, engineering, IT (Information Technology), hospitality, and government.
Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS), headquartered in Ashburn, Virginia, provides comprehensive information on its operations. The district maintains detailed enrollment and achievement data through District and School Profiles. Virginia’s School Quality Profiles (SQPs) complement these reports by offering annual snapshots and multi-year trends on student achievement. LCPS is led by Superintendent Aaron Spence and governed by an elected School Board responsible for policy-making and strategic planning.
