Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) has announced its 2025 state and federal accountability and accreditation results, offering an overview of school performance and compliance across the district.

According to LCPS, all schools achieved full accreditation under Virginia’s standards, which assess safe and supportive learning environments, teacher credentials, and other educational requirements. The district’s schools were also evaluated under the new School Performance and Support Framework (SPSF), categorizing them based on performance: 46 as Distinguished, 34 as On Track, 15 as Off Track, and 3 as needing Intensive Support. Additionally, federal designations for student group performance identified 11 schools for Targeted Support and Intervention (TSI) and 2 for Comprehensive Support and Intervention (CSI), which automatically lowers a school’s SPSF classification.

The updated state model emphasizes student mastery over academic growth. This approach may not fully reflect the progress of English Learners, students with disabilities, and others who demonstrate meaningful gains without yet reaching mastery. LCPS continues to monitor student growth alongside mastery, recognizing it as essential for long-term academic achievement. By combining accreditation, SPSF performance categories, and federal support designations, the district aims to provide families with a clearer understanding of school performance to inform decisions about instruction, supports, and resources.

Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence said in a news release by LCPS: “Accountability and accreditation are two of many measures that provide important insight into how we are serving our students and where we can continue to grow. While we are certainly proud of the work happening every day in our schools, more work is in front of us. We remain focused on continuous improvement and ensuring every LCPS student is supported, challenged and prepared for success.”

LCPS is headquartered in Ashburn, Virginia. It provides comprehensive information on its operations through various resources such as calendars, school hours, parent resources, administrative contacts, detailed enrollment data, graduation rates, standardized test scores, and federal accountability metrics. Virginia’s School Quality Profiles (SQPs) complement these reports by offering annual snapshots and multi-year trends on student achievement. The district is led by Superintendent Aaron Spence and governed by an elected School Board responsible for policy-making and strategic planning.
