Former Stone Bridge High School star Luke Russell and the Castleton Spartans were defeated 7-4 by the RPI Engineers in their NCAA Division III baseball game on Saturday, March 14, at 3 p.m.

Robison Field at Karl Steffen Ballpark hosted the game. It marked the Spartans’ second contest against the Engineers this season. In the previous matchup on Saturday, March 14, the Spartans fell 24-2.

Russell threw six innings, allowing five earned runs and striking out two batters.

The Spartans are set to play again on Sunday, March 15, at 1 p.m. against the Middlebury Panthers at Middlebury Baseball & Softball Complex.
