Elon Phoenix, featuring former Fauquier High School standout Payton Swart, were narrowly defeated 4-3 in an NCAA Division I softball game by the College of Charleston Cougars on Sunday, April 5, at 12 p.m.
The contest took place at Patriots Point Athletics Complex and marked their third encounter with the Cougars this season. Both teams have each secured a win in the series to date.
Swart logged one hit in three plate appearances and stranded two runners.
Elon’s next scheduled game is Friday, April 10, at Hunt Softball Park against the Hampton Lady Pirates.
